Our county needs to focus on investing in all its schools, especially those in this area of the county. This includes updates to the buildings themselves and investing in the teachers and students here at these schools.
I will stand up to developers and fight to preserve our agricultural land and the natural beauty of this land that makes our community so special.
I will work with VDOT to ensure paving projects and road maintenance prioritize the needs of our district including fighting for paving, storm drains, and quick repairs following major storms. Fighting for our roads is a long-term investment that will save money and provide essential connections to our communities.
We should prioritize funding for community centers, existing and new parks, playground equipment, farmers markets, and other amenities that we deserve just as much as other communities in Wythe County.
Our area of the county was one of the hardest hit by Hurricane Helene, and we need to invest in protecting our citizens especially during major emergencies like this. This means more investments in these emergency services, preparing our infrastructure for storms, having emergency plans in place, and supporting folks through the recovery process.
Fighting for an open and responsible local government also ensures we are able to responsibly budget to make the necessary investments in education, emergency services, roads, parks, community centers, and all the other necessities for the county as a whole and our community while ensuring we keep taxes and costs to our citizens low.
I will fight to:
Fully fund our area schools, teachers, and most of all our students
Invest in road improvements across the district
Stand up to developers and fight to protect agricultural land and the family farms that make our area special
Invest in our communities with improvements and expansion of parks, community centers, playgrounds, libraries, farmers markets, and other public spaces.
Support our law enforcement, fire, and emergency services to protect our citizens, improve response times, and better prepare for natural disasters.
Make our county government responsive to the concerns of our citizens and ensure budgets keep taxes and costs low while investing in our communities.
